Low-Fi Backstage with Lalou
Music has always been a big part of Lalou’s life. Starting at a music school at just three years old, she grew up surrounded by music. Learning to play the piano and singing in different choirs was just the beginning. With a natural talent for making up melodies, she began writing music as a child and everyone around her knew that she was destined to become a musician.
Lalou draws inspiration from a wide range of musicians from various genres, including Alanis Morissette, Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones and Beyoncé. However her biggest musical inspiration is Marie Frederiksson. Despite the different genres, what really fascinates Lalou is the storytelling and the expression of meaningful messages through music. Lalou’s travels also influenced her musical journey. She shaped herself into the artist she is today through her experiences on the road, where she continues to find inspiration and growth.
Throughout her career, Lalou has evolved from playing jazz and folk covers to being more focused on songwriting and original music. The music she creates now revolves around existential lyrics that emphasize the importance of life, nature, and standing up for oneself. In her music she also spreads a message of hope and inspiration to minorities and those struggling in life, encouraging them to never stop dreaming and to live their dreams.
Lalou’s biggest dream is to perform more concerts abroad around Europe and beyond. She also aspires to write some more great music for other talented artists.
Low-Fi was introduced to Lalou through a fellow artist and its concept enthralled her right away. Low-Fi concerts now provide Lalou with an intimate connection with the audience. It is a supportive community that lifts each other up. This close connection with the audience and other artists is what is irreplaceable for Lalou.
